Flying fishes crossed with menacing black bats. Giant butterflies raced with Winnie the Pooh. Spiderman playfully chased eagles in the sky. It was a bright sunny morning on the 12th of February – a clear indication to Bangaloreans of the receding winter and the descent of the colourful spring time. Welcome to Galipata Time! – A morning with kite flying & traditional games.

The day started with enthusiastic children with their parents in tow, crowding around the stall of colourful kites, picking and choosing their favourite ones ranging from the traditional paper-based ones, shiny silver ones to the more sturdy plastic theme-based ones. After a little bit of trial and error, the “kiters” quickly got into the groove. And soon the cheerful, colorful forms dotted the sky.

After a few hours of pure fun in the sun, it was time to sit in the shade and play the traditional, indoor, games from long ago. While elders got nostalgic and smiled at fond memories, children looked at then with fresh eyes and thoroughly enjoyed playing games from Kavade (A Niche Toy Hive) – like Pachchisi, Pallanguzhi, Navakankari, Chaukabara etc. In no time, they got deeply involved and interested – trying to master the nuances and “levels” of the games, they had only so far, heard about from their grandparents. It just went to show that though times change, it just cannot wipe out the charm of golden oldies!

Finally where there are children around, can food be far behind? There were food stalls like The Green Pantry (We Think Green & Use Brown!)icecream, corn, etc to keep the spirits high. At the end of the day, everyone who walked out had a kite or more in one hand, a game in the other and a smile on their face! May more such events happen!

The event was organized by Namma Bengaluru Foundation and Citizen Matters. ApnaComplex sponsored the the traditional games for all the children.

We will be having a party/prize distribution ceremony filled with games, dance, music and fun. Please be a part of the fun and watch every participant of TPL go home with some prize!

Here’s some good news for all Cricket lovers in Bangalore! Announcing an exclusive Cricket Tournament for Gated Communities and Organizations in Bangalore!

As part of the Community Development Program, Treamis World School (http://www.treamis.org) is conducting an Inter Apartment/Corporate Cricket Tournament called Treamis Premiere League (TPL). TPL is being sponsored by ApnaComplex.com (http://www.apnacomplex.com) – the most comprehensive software for Housing Society Management and Accounting.

Who can participate?

Open to individuals living in apartment complexes and layouts and employees of organizations in Bangalore who can participate as a team representing their apartments, layouts or organizations. We are inviting the residents of your community/ apartment/ company to participate in the event.

How can you participate?

Register a team from your Apartment/Company

• There should be a minimum of 11 members in your team.
• The team member’s age should be over 25. In extreme cases where the apartment has short few players, we allow players below 25. However, no player can be below 18.
• All members of the team should be residents of the same apartment or members of the same association or employees of the same organization.

While we encourage teams to sign up, we also offer individual registration. If an individual signs up, we will place him/her with other individuals that sign up to form a team.

What else is there?

Family members can accompany players for support and cheering up. They will not be bored. There will be games fair for family members.

Last Day of Team Registration

Last date of registering your team is 27th August 2011. We are expecting approximately 12 to 14 teams in this tournament. Teams will be registered on first come first serve basis. So, hurry up! Send your team details along with apartment / layout /company name to the contacts mentioned below.

ApnaComplex announces “Drawing and Colouring Contest” for children. Here are the details:

Who can participate?
1. Children of ApnaComplex Registered Users (One can register here)
2. Participation can be in one of the two groups – (a) children up to 7 years and below (b) children between 8-12 years.

What to Draw?
Anything that depicts (a) Summer Evenings in My Complex/Layout OR (b) Living in a Gated Community.

What are the Terms?
The colours used in the drawing must have primarily the same colours as in ApnaComplex logo.

What is the last date?
29th of May 2011

How to send the entries?
Scan or take a picture of the artwork and email the same to support@apnacomplex.com OR upload it in in sites like Picasa and send us a link by email. Do not forget to send the kids name and age!

How many prizes?
Two attractive prizes each for the 7 years and below category & for 8-12 years category. All children will get a participation certificate.

When will the results be out?
